"I just had the best time buying sneakers here this afternoon..."
"...Charlie, the sales rep that helped me, has worked at Bill Rodgers Running Center since 1977. Yes, 1977! Its so nice to see a locally owned business that has a sales team of that longevity and experience.
After explaining my desire for arch and calf supportive shoes and observing my walk, Charlie found several sneakers for me to try on. Out of the four shoes that Charlie bought out, I choose a Nike pair that was red, gray and white. Not my ideal color choices, but the comfort and support of the shoes sold me. Not to mention the prices are pretty reasonable for sneakers. And the conversation-from talking about my hometown of Burlington, VT to the history of the store to health care policy (not sure how we got on that topic)-so memorable!" - - Boston, MA
"Sound running advise very reasonable prices..."
"....started with a phone call to
see if they carried the model of Mizuno shoe I was looking to buy.
They advised they did not have the model and I asked for a recommendation. I was immediately advised of three other comparable choices. I thought oh he could just be BS ing me. I looked up the choices on line - he was right on for what I was in the market to purchase.
Walked over to the store spoke with the friendly sneaker nerd in the basement. Tried on 3 pairs and made a purchase. Sound running advise very reasonable prices - SKIP BOSTON CITY SPORTS - come here instead." - - Jamaica Plain, MA
"Bill himself is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet..."
"...For those of you who don't know, Bill Rodgers won the Boston Marathon four times and the New York City Marathon four times. Visit his store and the walls are decorated with photographs, news paper articles, magazine covers, bib numbers and more. The first floor of the store is more touristy stuff like Boston t-shirts and some college gear, the second floor has all the running stuff a runner needs -- shoes, clothing, fuel belts, socks and everything in between. Bill's brother works in the store and will fit you for the proper shoes.
Bill himself is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. He has a great love for the sport that is contagious and will answer any questions you have about running, training or injuries." - - Pittsburgh, PA
"...a line winding up the stairs and out the door..."
"...Bill Rodgers Running Center is a unique running store. The top floor is full of memorabilia, and the bottom floor has a huge selection of running shoes and clothing. The selection of running clothes isn't as extensive as I'd like, but they do know how to fit you in a good pair of running shoes.
The day after the Boston Marathon, Bill Rodgers is at the store all day signing autographs. Expect a line winding up the stairs and out the door." - - Irvine, CA
"...this place is worth a visit..."
"If you are, or were, into running like myself, make a stop into this store. Of all the retail stores in the Fanueil Hall Marketplace, this place is worth a visit. Bill Rodgers was a world-class marathon runner who won the Boston Marathon and the NY Marathon.
There are 2 floors of the store. The bottom floor is a running retail store, where shoes, running attire and accessories are sold. Although the top street level store has a lot of the touristy t-shirts, there's a lot of pictures and memorabilia from Bill Rodgers' competitive days, as well as memorabilia from other winners of the Boston Marathon. His old running shoes, and signed gloves from other past marathon winners.
I always miss seeing Bill Rodgers whenever I stop in, but the people who work here are pretty nice, and willing to give some stories behind some of the memorabilia." - - San Mateo, CA
